I'm In Moose Jaw!!

I'm in Moose Jaw. Some of you may know that this is where I'm from. Some of you may already have guessed that I'm here on less than happy circumstances. My father, Lou has a serious health issue, and my brothers and I are here to give him some comfort. It hasn't been an easy time for my family. It's pretty sad and scary and weird. But mostly it's sad.
I haven't spent much time here over the years so it's kind of strange getting around town and living at the house I was born in. I don't have much time to blog as I spend most of the day at the hospital. My dad has moments of lucidity and he has a wicked good sense of humour.
The other day we were in Regina to see a specialist and we were being attended to by a couple of cute, very sweet nurses.
I said to him, "These nurses here in Regina are really cute!"
He comes back with, "Yeah the nurses are nice, but their football team still sucks!"
Funny that the patient is the one who seems to be breaking the tension.
Anyway, I will be back in Toronto for a day or so this week to appear at the National Women's Show. I don't want to miss this opportunity to pimp my book.
In the meantime, thanks for your nice thoughts and comments and I'll leave you with the actual moose from Moose Jaw.

Dear Humble: I am sorry to hear about your Dad and please know that there are a lot of people thinking of you and sending you and your family best wishes. I have recently lost my father and now the strain a long hospital stay can be. Stay strong. PS- I have boycotted 99.9 since you left.

Hey
Thanks everyone..today was a good day for my dad and I..
He was fairly alert and I even got to take him outside for a smoke!
It is going to be a day to day thing and I'll try and keep you up to date as best I can.

Hey man
hope everything goes well
for your dad and your family

No matter how old we are, our parents are always our parents, the ones we look up to. When I went through a similar experience, it was the first sad event that really shook up my world. Even though most of us don't really know you, you have a way of sharing that makes us feel like we do, and for that reason we all feel your sadness. Hang in there & enjoy the remaining special moments with your dad.
