I was proud of my 12 year olds last night. They played inspired, gritty, spirited soccer and lost 7 or 8-1.
The score doesn't tell the tale. Team Pink is a powerhouse that has been rolling over the other teams like nothing. But my girls came out to play last night and those Pinks knew they were in a game.
The first 5 goals they scored on us were very weak. Dribblers. But it was cold in the Oakville Dome and that kind of thing can happen. Other than the goal-scoring we were keeping up with a much stronger team and it was something to see.
After the half we switched goalies and things started to tighten up. I put in one of my Nicoles and after that we only let in a couple of goals.
In the end the girls played great and lost but that's okay. We're starting to gel as a team and I feel we'll be ready to win very very soon.
I'm now just being able to remember all the girls names. It's pretty easy. At one point last night there was only one girl on the field not named Nicole or Rachel and that was my kid.

a line full of Nicoles is funny. on my son's hockey team we have almost a full line of Nicholas'.
it makes it easy when you are calling a player!
