Being home every morning as my kids get ready for school is interesting. It's like they can't seem to figure out that their mother wants them to go faster which apparently is at odds with what they are doing which is going slower.
It's just plain fun to be part of. (That was just sarcasm.)
Help me.
Cold temperatures are brutal on the homeless. It got me thinking. You know how you always hear that theoretically no one on the planet should go hungry, as globally we produce more than enough food to feed all.
I think the homeless problem is like that. Don't you have a spare room or a couch? I call it Bring the Homeless Home. That's right if we just invited The Homeless Home then problem solved.
Next time instead of throwing that dude under the Gardiner some change or ignoring him, open up the door and Invite The Homeless Home.
Personally, I could use the company.
Finally my little pal Josh Holiday checked in.
"Big blurb about Freeway going to Calgary and nothing about your long-time buddy since '93 Josh Holliday? ;-) Hope you're well. Let's talk up the book some time."
My apologies. Josh is doing great guns at X92.9 New Rock Calgary, check out his MySpace here.
Oh look, Isn't that Josh Holliday, he appears to be saying something.

I've been fighting and reasearching and doing anything I can to be an advocate for the homelessness issue for some time now. I even got banned from a Tim Horton's for sticking up for homeless people.
When they aren't blocking a doorway or otherwise disturbing anyone, it really concerns me how their seems to be a mandate to drive them out of the tourist areas.
I've seen with my own eyes that this is the case.
If there's no harm principal involved, why can't they stand on a sidewalk? Gambling the definition of freedom, to me, is the most disturbing thing. Ever.
I've read a lot of stuff and stats on the city of toronto website and it's terrible how the programs in place are so poor.
There's really two big issues here - one is the best way to help and the other is freedom - and I think when there is no harm principal involved anyone should be able to stand anywhere they want within reason.
Oddly enough Mayor Miller doesn't answer my e-mails on the subject...

Oh, and usually I don't offer money - I offer to buy them a blueberry muffin or a can of Ensure meal replacement which only costs a little over one dollar.
