My sister-in-laws surprise birthday bash was this past Friday and Saturday in Montreal. Man we had a great time.
No kids, just me and the Little Women.( I love that phrase. You don't hear guys saying that much anymore cause it was so demeaning. "Where did you meet the little women? At the beach she was laying on a face cloth!)
Anyway a bunch of us hung out in Mtl and partied as only you can in that city. Cool hotel, great dinner Friday night and then Saturday lots of walking including a tour of our old neighborhood, (The crack-heads are still there, but you know they're cool French crack-heads!)
and then brunch on St. Denis.
After I picked up some smoked-meat Sandwiches at Schwartz's, (If you know the city I used to live 6 blocks East of St. Laurent) and then we walked over to Crescent Street and had a beer outside.
I'd forgotten how freaky good looking the women are. Guys too I guess but I wasn't watching them.
Funny thing the night before we all went dancing (yes I was that looped) and there was a group of us in our 40's and everyone else in the bar was about 10. Or so it seemed.
It was like, "Hey look the Moms' and Dads' are all drunk and dancing!"
I showed them. I stayed up till 1am! Okay I actually fell asleep about 12:50 but I went back to the Hotel room at 1.
It was fun to be back in that city hanging without the kids. It sort of felt a little like it did when Randee and I first met and were shacking up in an East-end Brownstone.
That was pre-kids, pre-Toronto and pre-getting freaking old.
I'm now at an age where I can still remember some of the things I used to do but can no longer believe I did them!
Now there's a good definition of middle-aged.
