A few of my pals who consider me their PGA Tour expert, because of the gay amount of time I spend watching it and Tiger, have asked me to explain the new playoff format to determine the winner of the inaugural FedEx Cup.
It's fairly complex but I'll put it this way simply.
Tiger will most likely win it.
Tiger doesn't really give 2 shites about it.
Basically it's like the Nextel Cup in Nascar.
All season long you play for position and then for the last four tournaments your seeded based on your season's performance.
So if you finish first, your given top points and so on down to 144 for the last 4 weeks.
Each week some players are eliminated and then the person with the most points at the end, wins the cup and a 10 million deferred payment. (Too hard to explain.)
You may have heard that the PGA tour is pissed at Tiger for skipping the first of the four events.
I guess so. It's their first kick at this and him not playing is not good.
The problem is he can miss the first event and mathematically still be leading the playoffs.
This little numerical glitch is just the kind of the thing the Tour was hoping to avoid.
Check this out for more.
Then of course, come back.
