Everybody hates mimes. That's a given. In our cynical society there is no more room for guys in white face walking against the wind.
But Marcel Marceau was like a super-mime. Fighting the crime of cynicism and bring mime-joy across the world.
He was the best and now he's gone.
I remember as a kid being impressed that he seemed to be stuck in a box, climbing a rope or holding a bird all without saying anything.
He had the only line in Mel Brooks Silent Movie and that was cool too.
