This past year Charlie took a leap from house league soccer to Select and it's been cool to watch.
She is a very fast, athletic, kid who is very coach-able. Well she made this team, got great coaching and improved immensely.
She's a good egg who never fails to make me proud.
Here is story that ran in this weeks Oakville Beaver.
Yes our paper is called "The Beaver," we're way a head of you so just grow up.
(Okay, just one.) Hey you guys in Oakville are so lucky, you get a new Beaver delivered to your door every week! Wow, no wonder it's so expensive to live there.
Happy? Now let's continue with the story from the paper.
The Oakville Chargers under-13 girls' select soccer team went a perfect 3-for-3 in tournament play this season.
Oakville's most recent tournament championship came earlier this month in North Mississauga, competing in a division that also allowed under-14 squads to participate.
The Chargers edged an U14 North Mississauga squad 1-0 in the final, netting the winner in the second half. Cara Hueston paced Oakville with four of the team's ten goals at the tournament, including a golden goal in the Chargers' 1-0 semifinal win over Georgetown's U13 entry.
Oakville went undefeated in the preliminary round, as it did in the two other tournaments it played in. The Chargers won the Oakville Regional Select/All-Star Tournament in August, clinching gold with a 5-2 rout of the Mississauga Falcons in the final, and were also champions at a June tournament in Erin Mills.
Brooke Hicks scored four of the team's 11 goals in Erin Mills. Gaby Guitor had six goals in the Oakville tournament, including three in the final.
Other members of the team are Sarah Eckert, Maeve Garvey, Deanna Spagnuolo, Kate Wickham, Daniela Deschamps, Bronwyn Schweitzer, Alex Schiffner, Isabella Nunez, Sharalynn Missiuna, Natalie LaMarche, Jamison Soeder, Charlie Glassman, Emma Koziey-Kronas, and Laura Whaley.
Assisting the team in several games were Tori Odetunde, Nicole Roblin and Samantha Pereira.
The team is coached jointly by Ed Leyer, Rob Bonadeo and Ralf Soeder.
