Tory rethinkin his school pledge. Uh Oh.

Well that'll just about do it.
John Tory has all but conceded the election to MCG by hinting that he would put The Issue on the "back-burner" (where all controversial policies go to die...) for now.

I think that's the wrong thing to do strategically because he's all but saying, "I'm already breaking a promise before I'm even elected!" (Remember he said he'd go ahead with the funding "on principle!")
Wow.
That's something not even Dalton I-never-met-a-promise-I-couldn't-break McGuinty has even done.
The Liberals will jump all over this, the Conservatives will look weak and the NDP will be whatever the NDP is.

The problem is Tory is being forced to back away from this issue cause because of the elephant in the room.
The issue isn't about funding faith-based schools or building tolerance and a sense of diversity amongst our children in the public system, which is what the Liberals blather on about.
The issue is the unfairness of the Catholic school board and the ability of one religion over another to have access to their faith-based education.
That's the elephant that no one, not even the Conservatives want to address.
Except the Green Party.
At a debate that John Tory was at yesterday, Green Party candidate Adrian Walker got a huge cheer by calling for One publicly funded school system.
Thats the real deal but no one but the Green Guy would have the nuts to say it.

Oh well, enjoy 3-4 more years of Dalton while John Tory leaves politics to go run another huge conglomerate successfully.
Citizens always get the government they deserve. Unfortunately.
