In my House-The Anniversary Edition.

Randee and I had our 18th wedding anniversary yesterday. Yes 18 years. We were married when we were teenagers. Okay, maybe slightly older.

We went out for dinner Saturday night and had a great time. Lot's of laugh and romantic canoodling including some off-color behavior by my bride in a dance club that I just know she'd be pissed if I told you. So I won't.
That's how long I've been married. I really don't want to do anything to upset my wife's equilibrium-if she's happy then I'm happy.

I'm like a lot of guys who've been "in-country" this long. I've learned that all the day to day operations are out of my hands and that I really only need to be part of the big-picture strategic planning. In other words I don't care if we buy organic or not but my wife does so I do too.
But I really don't.

Is there anything more futile than 2 married men trying to make plans to get together.
"Should we try and meet for dinner?"
"Sure, but I'll have to check with my wife first."
"Me too. Why don't we have them call and they can work it out!"

Our girls gave us some nice cards. Actually Charlie gave us a card, Spencer put on a "Spoken Word" performance and wrote me a song. Very strange, those children. Must come from their mothers side.
Charlie's card began....."It's been a long 18 years but let's be serious, it was worth it..." and ended...."I love you people!"
Very sweet. Definitely like their mom.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon with my Godson Colton Lee Duran for his birthday. What a fine and special kid who is now 5 freaking years old!
How the hell did that happen? That means I must be nearly 60 and his father Dan is pushing a 100.
