My Dad fought in World War 2 and today I remember him and the other men and women who have fought so bravely to defend our country around the world.
"On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Canadians are asked to pause and remember the thousands of men and women who sacrificed their lives fighting for freedom and democracy during the First World War, the Second World War, the Korean War, the Afghanistan conflict and during peacekeeping missions."
I've seen my Dad's pictures from the War and I find them very haunting. To think he was ever that young and being that age faced having to go so far from home to a fate unknown.
My father spent 2 years overseas in the Canadian Air Force and I regret I never asked him more about his experiences there.
Today we pause and remember and give thanks to those who served and are serving so that we can enjoy the life we have.
Mainly we give thanks to those who served, are serving and sacrificing so that we don't have to.
