Team Red update.

The indoor soccer season is winding down. Not to be confused with the outdoor season which will start shortly.
The Big Red Machine(Girls U14/15) had a very interesting game last night against Team Purple.
TP only had a few players so I gave them Charlie G and Double D-some would argue 2 of our best players.
It was a great game that ended in a 10-10 tie. Amazing action, great goaltending(10-10!) and Charlie G's best performance of the year.
She had 7 goals and 2 assists. I guess playing against a team that I was coaching, even her own, inspired her to greatness.

I came home and my wife showed me Charlie's grade 8 graduation pictures and I was struck by the dichotomy.
Here she was all sweaty and proud in her shorts and shin-gaurds and then I see this picture of a young women who looks all semi-grown up and beautiful.
It was then I realized why I love watching her play. When she's running around after that ball she's still more little girl than this vision with straightened hair and blush and eye-liner.

I never thought I'd say it but soccer is my favorite sport!
