For a few years I worked at the Mix with a guy named Punch Andrews. He did weekends and filled in on our show doing traffic.
I won't say that we were best friends, just a good dude you'd see in the halls who was always smiling and upbeat.
Punch isn't doing so well these days. He has incurable lung cancer and is in the final stages.
Yet he's still the most positive guy.
Last week, wheezing on oxygen, he dropped in on the Jim Richards show on CFRB and it was amazing Radio. Riveting, compelling and authentic. All the things that most Radio isn't.
Have a listen here.
I spoke with Jim on the weekend and told him what a great broadcast I thought this was.
I also talked to Punch.
For the last 5 months or so he and I have been trading voice messages and Sunday we finally talked.
He sounds like a guy who has just finished a 100 yard dash and is gasping for breath.
Yet he is the most positive guy.
He told me my call made his day. I didn't know what to say. No one does really.
I told him he was on my mind and that I know everyone is pulling for him.
He had a smile in his voice even though I knew he was in pain.
Kind of puts things into perspective doesn't it? If you know him reach out, if you don't and you're looking to direct a prayer or just good wishes somewhere the Punch-Man could use it.
You won't find a more deserving or positive guy.

I also read about him on FreddieP.ca and tried to listen to the broadcast. Unfortunately, work related matters prevented me from doing so but I definitely will listen to the link on your site.
As you said, puts things in perspective and my problems become insignificant to what this poor man is going through. May God bless him and ease his pain.
