I know the Right wing brigade hates to hear that Lefty-Doodle Dave has done something good but he has.
1.5 million people won't be seeking alternated transport today and thusly I won't be inconvenienced.

I won't have a 2 hour drive in and out of the city and that's a good thing.

Great. All I know is that this potential mess has been averted and it is a big win for all of us.
(But like you I mostly only care about how it affects me and how less inconvenient my life will be. Of course by "my life" I know you know I mean " your life" too. Sheesh, being selfish can be very complicated.)

You hit the nail on the pointy end. It's all about the ME, ME, ME society we live in. People hate Unions for the most part because, the ME in them are jealous. Unions think of what's best or good for the collective US. So who is more selfish? The collective ME's in society.

I stay far away from the mindboggling/bitter/insane Right Wing, but David Miller didn't do anything. He was in China all week, supposrting Hypocricy. He's most likely not really the one to give credit for anything.
If Miller wants do do something, declare it an essential service so they can't pull this crap time after time.
Even if he did stop this strike, how long till next time? Yeah, it takes a big man to throw another band-aid on another municipal problem.
Oh well, our other choice was Jane Pitfield.
