Okay that's quite enough of " At The End of The Day!"
I think we're all tired of it as a catch phrase aren't we.
I know I am.
At the end of the day what are we trying to say?
I say let's bring back the old school, "When all is said and done..."
Is that so hard. Same number of words.
How did ATEOTD hang around so long? Why haven't we retired it a long time ago?
Laziness.
We are just lazy linguists and "At the end of the day" is convenient and sort of smart-sounding.
May I then offer an alternative that is shorter and snappier and means basically the same thing.
Ultimately.
Yes Ultimately covers any thing "At the end of the day" does and quicker
Sales guy 1:"Well Bob that's about it for our Q-1 sales update any thoughts?"
Sales guy 2: "Well Stan Ultimately it's about setting targets and meeting them. Pretty cool how I didn't say "At the End of the Day?" Now lets go get some booze and whores. (Pardon the stereotypical "Sales Guy banter.")
Ultimately you have decide if you're an At the end of the day person or not.
I mean in realty at the end of the day is...Night.
