1 Weekend, 2 Movies.

indiana-jones-crystal-skull the natural

I saw the new Indiana Jones movie this weekend when I needed a break from swimming and puttering and drinking and more swimming.
The Crystal Skull deal was more than okay it was in a word, satisfying. I liked it just fine thank you because it had all the elements that I was expecting and it delivered all the Indian Jones moments I knew were coming.
Thanks George Lucas and Stevie Ray Speilberg for not letting me down. Now I wasn't blown away by any means but if you loved Jones 1-3 you'll like this one too.

Last night I watched The Natural for about the umpteenth time (No pun intended) and I still dug it. For a movie that was produced in 1984 it holds up nicely and is still in my top 15 sports movies of all time. It was directed by Barry Levinson and features a young, somewhat hot Glenn Close, a really hot and young Barbara Hershey(80's Vagenius!) and a cast of heavies including Robert Redford before he got his weird chicken neck, Wilfred Brimly, Richard Farnsworth, Joe Don Baker and a young Michael Madsen before he was in Reservoir Dogs.
If you haven't seen it or haven't for a while check it out.
Strange that Raiders of the lost Ark was released in the early 80's just before The Natural and here we are nearly 30 years later and Indian Jones is still going strong. Although I couldn't imagine revisiting Roy Hobbs in any incarnation other than the time portrayed in The Natural.
Yes I get that one is cartoon and one is a fantasy but it just struck me how The Natural is still watchable and the only way I'm going to watch Raiders/Indiana Jones again is an updated 2008 version.
