It's been a couple of days and I just want to say thanks. Thanks to all my pals and friends that have called to congratulate me and Tiger on our win.
It was beyond a shadow of doubt, the best tournament I have ever witnessed. It edged just ahead of Mike Wier's Masters win, but only just. (Yes I'm a big Weir fan too and that final round Masters that he won in the playoff was all kinds of awesome.)
Anyway I have so much to say about the golf but I'm sure your sick of hearing me break down Tiger performances. I'm also sure you've read a paper in the last couple of days.
Suffice to say it was a performance that people won't soon forget..from both Tiger and Rocco Mediate.
How bout this insight.
Rocco's twilight has been all but assured.
Often times when PGA tour players get to age 45 they struggle to keep their playing privileges while trying to stay sharp for the Senior Tour.
Well Roc won't have to worry about that. He'll be exempt for the next year and at least one more based on his career earnings and after that he'll be able to grab no end of sponsors-exemptions to ride it out until he hits the big 5-O. Good for him, he deserves it. Most of you may have just heard of him now but he's been a good guy and a great player for a long time.
Back to El Tigre.
How big a boner did Nike have running this spot all weekend. And how absolutely bang on is the content.

Well, he did win but, it cost him dearly. May never recover. Knee surgery, gone for the rest of the year.

Howard, I must concur with you. It was by far the most riveting 5 days of golf I have ever watched. The storyline was better than anything anyone could have dreamed up. The final days with Rocco were marvelous.
Now we know the extent of Tiger's injury it becomes even more of a magical moment in golf history. We can only hope that Tiger recovers well from his NEXT round of surgery and can be back in fine form for next season. The world is not right again. I won't be able to watch golf for the next year. :-(

Paul,
I feel exactly the same. It's weird. It's like golf's been canceled for the rest of the 08 season. I know some people will think this is good, give some other guys a chance and all that but for me Pro Golf is Tiger Woods. One expert said, "He's the engine that drives the PGA tour..."
I will check out the majors and the Ryder Cup but I've already cut back on my Golf viewing and now it'll be even less. Who knows, now maybe my lawn won't look like such crap!

Sigh. Like you I will watch the remaining majors, probably pass on the Ryder, and only imagine that Tiger and I are playing 18 and I am ahead by 1 stroke.
Right, as if that would ever happen. Even if he spotted me 30 strokes I would be trailing by 3.
Anyway, take it easy.

All the years BTW (Before Tiger Woods) the PGA did just fine. They will continue to. When he, (Tiger) for quite a number of years snubbed the golf fans of Canada by not showing up for OUR Open, I got use to watching golf WTW. (Without Tiger Woods) Like you said hh, maybe the commentators can focus on the other good golfers. I've got used to athletes(gag) missing the entire season because of an injury. Same said for Tiger. I watched the Skins Tele-cast two days in a row. Very entertaining. There will still be incredible shots this year but I guess WTW you'll be catching them on the news reels.
