And then it was Friday

One week of this and I'm pretty excited. Tired but excited.
Thursday I worked, then directed a VO session, then went to my Video production office, then came home. After that I prepped for Friday's show, ate dinner and now I'm typing this.
Today no sleepy.
Starting to have visions and hear voices.
The big Friday Afternoon Nap is looming and I'm counting the hours. This, as any morning shift person will tell you, is the best nap of the week.

Also I'd like to send a shout out to my friend Fred.
I was perusing his site as everyone in and out of the biz does late Thursday afternoon and I found this entry.
Apparently the views of some of the FP faithful and former H+F fans are a little bewildered at my taking a job at EZ Rock. Fred was articulate in his assessment of the situation and I appreciated his candor on my behalf.
Listen, I'm a Radio announcer and I was offered a job doing that. Maybe the music isn't to everyone's taste but I can tell you a lot of people like it and the Radio station and I was flattered to be asked to work on their air.
As for the music?
As I said to a friend today. "I like a lot of the songs, I don't like a few of them and I've never heard of some. And you know what, I could have said the same thing at NY, The Edge, and the Mix-both times I was there!"
It's that simple. I'm a Morning guy and I was blessed to be given a chance to be a Morning guy again. Believe me I'm grateful for the opportunity.
I'm also thankful and appreciative that Freddy took the time to explain the finer points of the business to his people.
Must sleep now, starting to lose focuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Read Freddies piece also and he was bang on. HH I listen because your a familiar voice I've heard for 15+ years and I like your style. I still remember when the Indy was on and they were flying banners advertising your show, was that like 1989-90? Memory is failing, anyways you do the show you have always put on and the died in the wool faithful will over look the music.

Humble,

Good Night have a good sleep and I wish you all the best at EZ Rock.

Corey

Hi Humble.

I'm just so darn glad to hear
your voice on the airways again. I'd forgotten what a crush I have on you. Well said, all stations play stuff
you like and don't like.

Hope it lasts as long as you want and need it to.

I'll be listening on my morning drive.

Julie-Oakville

Humble, I have tried, really I have, to give the show a go, but the music for me does not connect. It is good to hear your voice and wit again, and I wish you unlimited success, but I won't be listening. Enjoy the new gig and keep on blogging!!

That's what I have been saying over and and over again as well. The good-to-bad song ratio is about the same on any station. What a bunch of buffoons that focus on the music aspect of your new morning show. The thing is, what every morning show in Canada need the most is less music. Let you talented and funny folk talk more. I guess perhaps the reason many Toronto morning shows are afraid to do that is that their morning shows lack talent. That's the reason I never jumped aboard the Dean Machine. Blundell bites, even though you and Fred have always been too nice to say so.

Hello Humble,
Actually I'm surprise you even get to listen to the music while your doing your show. I figured, while the music is playing your setting things up for your next "bit", your poking your producer with a stick or even yelling at a intern that your fare trade, low-carb, low-fat, decafe soya milk latté’s foam is not the right shade, or the sprinkles are not distributed symmetrically. :-)

I became aware of the "Nature of Radio" when Pete and Geets was no more. This means that the "Nature of Radio" as in the "Nature of life", is that things change. I may not like it, but still that is the way it is, you just have to accept it.

I wish you and your other "hot" (except for "Guess who?") morning hosts a "Wally Crouter" run of your morning show.

Cheers

Jason,

It is not just the music that is hard to listen to. It is also the topics of conversation. They are focused at the target audience of older women. That’s great. Everyone needs to appeal to a certain demographic to make advertising easier. I am just not a fan of the topics. I have listened and will continue to listen but I do tend to tune out at some topics. I never had to on the Mix, Mojo or CFNY.

It's good to hear you back on morning radio, Howard. As for the music on the station, I'm just thankful not to hear any Nickelback. ;^)

Good on ya, Howard! Congrats. :-)
