My first born is 14. What the hell? It seems impossible that the little thing I held in my arms 14 years ago tonight is somehow running around upstairs with her GLF's (Grown up Looking Friends) and getting ready for a Sushi birthday dinner.
Weird that.
The passage of time, the days long and long ago and the years flying by like pages flipping quickly in book.
I remember Charlie vividly as a baby, as a toddler, a little girl and child and now a young women. But for the life of me I can't figure out how it happened so fast.
Is this the curse of parenthood? We're given these gifts to love and nurture only to watch them grow up and out of our lives.
I can usually find the funny in most things but today I'm feeling overwhelmed with the notion that this blossoming person is many years removed from being my baby.
I do know however that she'll always be my little girl.
I must go drink and cry now.
My pal and former partner Freddie P and I were talking about this very thing earlier this week and he threw down some pretty emotional stuff as well. Check it out here.

This won't help but its coming from an outsiders Point of view I remember going to the Christmas shows back in the 90s and one of the things that was so great about the Humble and Fred experience was the willingness of you guys to share your personal lives with the listeners and bring them to those events. As a loyal listener there was nothing fake about you guys nor about your humor, and it allowed us to get to know you guys over the years, I can remember seeing the kids there at the Christmas shows and now to see how time has flown by, its wierd. wow! I saw one of my old swimmers that I used to coach when I first started coaching back in 2000, he is ready to graduate high school. That too was one of those, holy crap where has time gone moments. My little sister got married on October 4th of this year, another. My wife and I are thinking about our first and all I can think of, when that happens, times gonna fly and life as I know it is over, in great and bad ways. Great in that we will have a little baby Buffalo Boy Offspring, bad, in that its a phase in life that seems to go by sooo fast for most. I guess the only thing to do is to have fun and enjoy every single minute of it.
Congradulations Howard and Happy Birthday to Charlie
Buffalo Boy.

Hey Howie,
When I had my first a buddy of mine told me that when he had his son, he used to come home every day and think "boy, it does not get any better than this". The next day he would realize how wrong he was. Just remember, Charlie may be 14, but tomorrow will be a little more amazing than today!
