Who throws a shoe for crissake? I mean it's hi-larious and weird and so "President Bush!"
That stuff seems to be so perfect for him and unfortunately will be part of his over-all legacy along with screwing up the economy and not finding WMD's,
But really...a freakin shoe!
I guess that's a really bad insult in Iraq. Like the worst thing you can do is hurl your foot-ware as some dude. I guess it beats the American tradition of hurling bullets at someone who you think has wronged you.
We need something like that here in Canada. Like if someone's pissed you off you throw a beaver at them. Or the very least a gopher or a puck.

From a technical point of view...throwing or using a shoe against someone is the highest from of insult in the Iraqi (Arabic) culture, because it is the thing on your body that is furthest from God/Allah. Remember those scenes of people slamming the Saddam statues with their shoes. However, W did look quite hilarious ducking the Hush Puppies!

I don't listen to your show every single day [anymore] but it occured to me that it will be really weird not hearing a humble and fred christmas show again this year. i really miss those. i'll make sure to check in from time to time.. and happy holidays humble!!
